I love to read. Reading is one of the best ways to gain
knowledge. I am a continuous learner and my favorite way to gain knowledge is
through reading. Here are my top five books.
1. Above
the Line by Urban Meyer with Wayne Coffey
Above the Line is a leadership
book. The whole concept of the book is to approach leadership from a place of
integrity. It is important to always take the high road in leadership and to
led by example.
2. The
7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective
People is a book that is all about breaking your bad habits and forming new and
better habits. We all have bad habits that hamper our quality of life without
us even knowing it.
3. Strengths
Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath
Strengths Finder 2.0 is all about
finding out what your strengths are. It is so important to know and understand
what your strengths are. By knowing and understanding your strengths you will
able to set yourself up for success.
4. The
Shack by Wm. Paul Young
The Shack addresses some heavy
topics. For those of you with religious ties it is a very powerful book. I know
that personally I have struggled with certain topics as it relates to religion
but this book has really helped to open my eyes and give me insight and
understanding into those topics. Even if you are not religious I think it is an
extremely powerful book. It addresses the topic of grief in a unique way that
helps give people closure.
5. See
Me by Nicholas Sparks
Finally See Me is a very different
book from the rest of these. I know a lot of you are probably thinking really
why is a Nicholas Sparks book even on this list. I always think there is
something to be learned from every genre of book. This book is about a man who
has gotten into some trouble in the past and he forms a relationship with Maria
who is the complete opposite. Maria is someone who followed the rules and does not get into trouble. I felt this book did a very good job of demonstrating
that no matter what your past is you do deserve to be loved.
These are just my top five books because otherwise we would
be here forever. I hope you choose to pick up one of these books or any other
book for that matter and just start reading. Always remember that knowledge is
power because the more you learn the more you earn. Let me know if you would
like a part two and I can go through some of my other favorite books for you.
What are some of your favorite books? Do you prefer a
physical, digital, or audio book? If you had to pick your all time favorite
book what would it be and why?
