We All Believe We are the Best

We all believe in ourselves. There is nothing wrong with believing in yourself but people are often overly optimistic. As a result, we all believe we are the best. We all believe we are “hustlers.” Heck many of us believe we are the best thing to have graced this earth. The key word being believe. We all hope and believe who we are instead of actually working to become who we hope and believe we are.

Just think about that for a second. I can believe all I want that I am going to be a media mogul. But at the end of the day just believing I am going to be a media mogul doesn't make it reality. In order to actually become a media mogul I have to put in the work to achieve this goal. I think people often miss read situations. They see people who are "over night" successes and they think this is the norm. Nothing is ever truly “over night.” You have to put in the work no matter what but how you receive and interpret that information makes all the difference in the outcome.

I recently stumbled upon an entrepreneur named Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary is a person you either love or hate. The majority of people dislike Gary because he tells you how it is. For me, he is a refreshing dose of reality. Gary is all about living your life for your dreams, not someone else’s. In one of his videos he said something I thought was very interesting. He talked about how the majority of people do not look at loosing as a good thing. He says the reason people do not like loosing is because they are to worried about what other people will think of their loses. He said I don’t care what others think of my “L." I don’t care what anyone thinks about my “L." It is my “L." Worry about yourself.

We all need to realize something. We do not become the best simply by wanting and wishing we were the best but by putting in the work to be the best. In order to become the best we need to except there will be obstacles in our way and there will be instances were you will loose. It is okay to loose because it is your “L" and it does not matter what other people think about it.

It is like the great Charle Munger says, “To get what you want, you have to deserve what you want. The world is not yet a crazy enough place to reward a whole bunch of undeserving people." People often feel that they deserve success. But at the end of the day we do not deserve anything. We have to put in the work to achieve our goals in order to truly deserve them.

We must remember one thing when it comes to success. Not everyone is meant to be a number one no matter how much we try. We should all be working toward being the best version of ourselves and work to improve our abilities. There are plenty of people who are not number one. The 4th or 5th at companies like Apple or Microsoft may not be number one but they still make a good living.

At the end of the day we all think we are the best but we need to give ourselves a healthy dose of reality and realize that this view means nothing unless it is shared by others.

Are you a little full of yourself? Do you have anything to back up your confidence? Or are you overly confident?
