Being Vulnerable

We have always heard the phase “wearing your heart on your sleeve.” It is interesting that people encourage others to wear their heart on their sleeves; however, then people are encouraged to be “mysterious.” I think you should take your own approach to situations. If you do not take your own approach you are just putting up a front and people do not really get to know you but they get to know the façade you have created.

I have always been the person who wears their heart on their sleeve. Some people are hesitant to wear their heart on their sleeve because they are afraid of getting hurt. I always think about the quote from Eleanor Roosevelt to “do one thing every day that scares you.” I do not want to live life without taking risks. You have to take chances in life. Some of these risks may or may not work out but at least you took the chance.

Don’t be afraid to show your emotions. Being able to put yourself in these vulnerable positions is a sign of strength. It takes a lot of strength to be able to let people in and see who you are at your core. Do not be afraid to open up because it allows others to get to know you and you might discover things you never knew about yourself.

Do you wear your heart on your sleeve? Does wearing your heart on your sleeve scare or intimidate you? Have you learned something about yourself by opening up to other people?
