Do you compare your life to those you see on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.? The reality of the situation is that many of us do this whether we are aware of it or not. We see someone on Instagram and think I wish I looked like her or I wish I had that. For a few of us the comparison ends here but for the rest of us it continues. We begin to put ourselves through the ringer in order to achieve what other people “have.” We all have been conditioned to see social media as the ultimate goal to achieve.
Here is what no one wants to talk about in regard to social media. Social media is a highlight reel. People do not post ugly and embarrassing pictures typically. Why would they? We all post our best pictures not our worst. What we do not see is what happens behind the scenes. We do not see the bad hair days or the pimples. We do not see how many pictures they took to get that one good picture they posted.
Please stop comparing yourself to others social media accounts. Constantly comparing yourself to others can do irreversible damage to your self-esteem and confidence. Remember that social media is just a highlight reel and is not reality.
