Thanksgiving was on Thursday. The holidays are my personal favorite part of the year. I love the colors as the leaves change and the white powder that covers the ground. I love the feeling of happiness and renewal that comes with this time of year. While this is a happy time for me, I know for some people it can be a difficult and sensitive time. For some the holidays bring a lot of stress or it reminds them of people they are not able to spend time with. I can completely relate to that feeling. I lost my Grandpa 10 years ago and it was really difficult for me to cope with the first holidays we spent without him. It took me a while to come to terms with but then I realized something.
If you google the definition of Thanksgiving you will get an answer like an expression of gratitude. When I read that definition, I focus on the word gratitude and take it to heart. I am grateful I had such an incredible Grandfather in my life. I am grateful he always encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone. I am grateful he fostered a love and passion for learning in me. I am grateful that he taught me how to treat other people with dignity and respect and so much more. While I wish my Grandpa could be here, I am grateful for everything my Grandpa brought to my life and did for me.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and were able to focus on gratitude no matter what your situation. After all, we all have something to be grateful for no matter our situation or mindset.
