“No matter what kind of person you are, I implore you: Try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you.” - Judy Hopps
Recently I was at my friends house and we watched Zootopia, which by the way is a really good animated movie. This quote from Judy Hopps is a different take on Gandhi’s philosophy to be the change you want to see in the world. I think this quote does a really good job of enveloping the entire thought process when trying to implement change.
Often people will have the thought that they are not the type of person who would ever be able to create change because of their background, personality, etc. What people fail to realize is that it does not matter who you are, you can make a difference. In most cases people care more about what comes out of your mouth than where you are from or your background. If you have good thoughts between your ears people will respond.
The biggest issue I see when people are attempting to make a change is that it is not something they really believe in. Any change that you want to support or implement has to be something you believe in. People can tell when you are not being genuine.
When trying to implement a change there is a stigma that you have to be a perfect example of that change. No one is perfect even if it is the change they want to see. We are all human and we all stumble along the way but as long as you are “try[ing] to make the world a better place” you are doing more than people who are not taking action.
At the end of the day try to be a force for good in the world. Be a force of positivity because that is something we are really lacking in the world right now.
