This past week was the 4th of July, as I am sure
many of you know. I hope you had an amazing holiday. If your day went anything
like mine you had a BBQ and then went to see fireworks. My mom and I went to a
firework show and when the first one went off I started thinking…gunpowder is a
volatile mixture that explodes. Typically this powder is used for self-defense,
hunting, or in a war zone. Gunpowder was used to gain our freedom and is used
on a regular basis to maintain that freedom. But we use gunpowder to create
fireworks, which creates beautiful shows of color to celebrate our freedom. How
poetic, something so volatile is used to protect and celebrate, used from
beginning to end.
Remember we have many privileges as US citizens. Many people
do not have the same freedoms that we have. Be thankful for the freedoms and
privileges you have. And go out of you way to thank the individuals and their
families who have made many sacrifices to allow us to have these freedoms.
Never take your freedoms for granted because so many people have paid the
ultimate price for you to have the privilege of being free.
