Laughter is one of the most powerful forms of healing and
medicine. Laughing is such a simple thing but it has a huge impact on an
individual’s happiness. Over the past few weeks I have been going through a
rough patch. I am graduating in May, which is really exciting because I am so
close to achieving the goal I had set out to do. However, at the same time it
is really overwhelming and I have been dealing with internal issues like what
do I plan to do after graduation or who I want to be in business. These are
really big questions that when you start to think about you begin to question
how well you really know yourself. For me the most intimidating thing is that
the only limitations are the limitations that you set for yourself. In the
world we live in it is really difficult to comprehend that the only limitations
are the ones we set for ourselves because our entire lives others set our
limitations for us at home, in school, etc. It is overwhelming to step outside
of those restrictions and realize that you are responsible for your own
successes and failures.
When I had the realization that very soon I am going to need
a new goal to strive for I started to prep and plan. I started to force myself
to get more and more things done. I understand that sometimes you do have to force
yourself to do things; however, I was pushing myself to the point where I was
not allowing myself to enjoy the process. Over the weekend I spent sometime with
my best friend and we watched a few standup comedians. We both laughed so much.
It had been a really long time since I had turned off my brain and genuinely
laughed. I felt so refreshed and ready to tackle difficult tasks. Laughter has
helped me to heal and find my motivation.
We all need some laughter in our lives. Laughter helps us to
escape from the pressures and stress of our daily lives. It is a way for us to
reset and gain our motivation back. When was the last time that you genuinely
laughed? How did it make you feel? Did you feel refreshed and empowered? Make
it a priority to laugh a little everyday as well as the people around you.
