In any industry having an action plan is critical to success. Everything needs to be intentional and on purpose. Steve Jobs was known as a perfectionist, which comes through in his attention to detail in the products he helped to create. One of those products is the Macintosh computer. Jobs attention to detail helped to create “the first computer with beautiful typography.” Jobs created detailed action plans that allowed projects to be completed and successful.
Jobs was never intimidated by making tough decisions. Jobs set his emotions aside and made objective decisions about products and their design. One project was the iPhone, the product was not coming across how he wanted it to and he decided changes needed to be made even though they had already put in nine months’ worth of work. Sometimes companies get attached to products, which can hinder their success. Jobs made the right decisions for the company regardless of his personal point of view.
Apple is in the tech industry where products and software are ever changing. In fast paced industries it is difficult to stay ahead and the problems seem to be more frequent. Jobs tried to understand the issues in order to create an effective solution. Some people can become flustered or experience a mental block when faced with an issue. Jobs was able to stay calm under pressure and deliver when it was necessary. Being able to look at the possibilities rather than the issues allows for success to be achieved.
Steve Jobs is an individual we will be learning from for years to come. Everyone has their own unique leadership style. Jobs leadership style worked for him. Do you think his leadership style had a lot to do with Apples success? Do you think Apple would have been so successful if Jobs had not been fired and brought back?
